Volleyball’s May-Treanor Appointed as Co-Chair to President’s Council on Sports, Fitness and Nutrition

The Director of Volleyball Operations and Women's Indoor and Beach Volleyball head coach Misty May-Treanor has been appointed as co-chair to the President's Council on Sports, Fitness and Nutrition.

May-Treanor's appointment, alongside former New York Yankee Mariano Rivera and former professional football player Herschel Walker, comes as no surprise to those that have followed her career. The most decorated athlete in volleyball history, May-Treanor won three consecutive Olympic gold medals for beach volleyball in 2004, 2008, and 2012, and won a record 112 consecutive matches.  She also earned three gold medals at the Beach Volleyball World Championships in 2003, 2005, and 2007, and won silver in 2011. At Long Beach State, she led Long Beach State to a NCAA Division 1 Championship in 1998 and was named the National Player of the Year in 1997 and 1998.

In the past two years at Long Beach City College, she has coached the Women's Indoor Volleyball team to a 37-10 record (12-3 in conference) and the Women's Beach Volleyball team to a 35-10 record (14-4 in conference) in that same time. She was voted the South Coast Conference Coach of the Year for both sports in 2018.

The President's Council on Sports, Fitness, and Nutrition creates and promotes programs that encourage all Americans to live healthier lives through regular physical activity and good nutrition.
