Vikings Ready for 2018 Fall Season

The Long Beach City College Vikings finished the 2017-18 with a bang and look to keep the momentum in 2018-19, beginning with the Fall Sports. Long Beach made their mark in the California Community College Athletics Association (CCCAA) last year by earning six conference championships, seven state appearances, one individual state final appearance, four coach of the year awards, four conference most valuable player awards, and two All-American athletes.

Football

After ruling 2017, the Vikings look to repeat another dominating year after bringing in their third-straight Southern California Central Division Conference Championship after compiling an 8-3 record and a 4-1 conference mark. The Vikings will open their 2018 season at home in Veterans Stadium against Grossmont College on Saturday, Sept. 1 at 5 p.m. To view the entire schedule, click here.

Men's Soccer

Men's soccer returns for the 2018 season after a history-making 2017 season start. The Vikings went 8-0 in non-conference play to head into their South Coast Conference (SCC) schedule. Long Beach posted an overall record of 11-6-8 and 3-2-3 in conference. To view their entire schedule, click here.

Women's Volleyball

Women's volleyball is set to return to the court on August 29 at Irvine Valley College at 5 p.m. Last season, the Vikings brought home a South Coast Conference Co-Championship after boasting a 6-1 conference record and 18-5 overall. Third-year Head Coach Misty May-Treanor and the Vikings will host the Long Beach Quad Tournament on Friday, August 31. To view the rest of the schedule, click here.

Women's Soccer

Women's soccer returns with first-year head coach, Eduardo Nunes. Last year, the Vikings went 8-8-5 overall and 5-3 in conference. Nunes and the Vikings are set to host the first game of their season on Tuesday, August 28 against San Diego City at 4 p.m. To view the entire schedule, click here.

Men's Water Polo

Men's water polo comes back in to action after reaching the CCCAA State Championship semifinals last season. The team boasted a 21-7 overall record and a perfect 7-0 conference record. Seven-time SCC Coach of the Year Chris Oeding returns to the deck for the 2018 season with the first home game set for Wednesday, September 5 against Mt. Women's Water Polo

Women's water polo is back after another banner year with third-consecutive conference crown and an undefeated conference season. The Vikings were unstoppable with an undefeated streak in their home pond. The women's water polo team will return to the pool with their first home game on Wednesday, September 5 against Mt. Cross Country

The Vikings are ready to hit the ground running for the 2018 season after reaching the CCCAA State Championships for the past two years. The women's team placed fifth overall in the SCC with 166 points while the men's team brought home seventh place with 177 points. The Vikings will compete in their first match on Saturday, September 1 in the Tour de Cuesta Invite at Cuesta College. To view the rest of the schedule, click here.
