Vikings Athletic Week in Review- 10/10/2022: Women’s Soccer Continues Reign

Women's Soccer- No. 18 Women's Soccer Ruthless Against ELAC with 7-0 Win 

The No. 18 Vikings women's soccer team went hard against the East Los Angeles College Huskies in their first South Coast Conference game of the season. The Vikings took down the Huskies 7-0 and now hold a 7-1-2 overall record.

Forwards Genesis Lopez and Diana Leon each tallied two goals for the Vikings, while midfielders Scarlett Ortiz and Cora Craig each scored one. Forward Camryn Camacho tapped one in for the Vikings to seal the 7-0 domination.

Goalkeeper Vivian Toomey totaled two saves against the Huskies.

The Vikings then went on to travel to Cerritos and defeat the Falcons 2-0. Paige Rodriguez and Genesis Lopez both scored one goal each with the assists from Diana Leon to seal the conference victory over the Falcons. To view the Vikings' schedule, click here.


Women's Water Polo

The Vikings women's water polo team traveled to East Los Angeles College for their fourth conference game and came home with a 21-4 win. With the win, the Vikings are 4-0 in the South Coast Conference and will play Cerritos College on Wednesday, Oct. 12 at LBCC at 3 p.m.

In the game against the Huskies, Daphne Wilder led the Vikings with five goals, followed by Katie Juarez, and Sharon Vargas with four goals each.

Men's Water Polo

The men's water polo team participated in the Riverside Tournament over the weekend and won three out of four games.

The Vikings took down Palomar 22-10 and Riverside 13-9 on Friday, while falling to LA Valley 11-9, but coming back to defeated Orange Coast College in overtime 16-14 on Saturday.

The Vikings will be back in the pool for more conference action on Wednesday, Oct. 12 at 4:30 p.m.

Cross-Country

The women's cross-country team competed in the San Diego Mesa Manny Bautista Invitational last Friday morning and finished in 13th place with an average time of 24:40.

Sophomore Ailene Rios placed 15th overall with a time of 20:03.5, second across the line for the Vikings was Frida Hernandez with a personal best time 23:55.2.

The cross-country team will compete again on Friday, Oct. 14 at the Mt. SAC Invite.

Volleyball

The Long Beach City College Vikings volleyball team had a tough 3-0 loss to El Camino last Wednesday evening.

The Vikings are looking to turn things around this Wednesday with a home conference game against Mt. San Antonio College at 6 p.m. n the Building Q Gym.

 Men's Soccer- Men's Soccer Dominates East Los Angeles 3-0

The Long Beach City College men's soccer team defeated the East Los Angeles College Huskies with a 3-0 win on Tuesday afternoon. With the conference win, the Vikings are 5-1-4 overall and 1-0 in the South Coast Conference.

Goalkeeper Ryan Swan went to work on the shut-out with three saves against the Huskies.

Forward Jesus Moreno was first on the board in the first half for the Vikings, and then midfielder Leo Sanchez stepped up with two show-stopping goals in the second half.

The Vikings' defense kept the Huskies out of the net and went on to win the game 3-0.
