The Long Beach City College women's beach volleyball team was tested for the first time this season after facing off against Palomar College and San Diego Mesa this past Friday. After handling San Diego Mesa with a 5-0 win, the Vikings rallied to take home a 3-2 victory over Palomar to remain undefeated on the season.

Sophomore Sarah Miller (Long Beach, CA) and freshman Paige Panter (Southgate, TX) went 4-1 on the day by sweeping through Palomar and defeating San Diego Mesa in three sets. The third set of the San Diego Mesa match was decided by two points.

The number four and five teams for the Vikings excelled throughout the day as they carried a good amount of weight for Long Beach down the stretch.

Sophomore Geraldine Poon (Long Beach, CA) and freshman Valeria Payan (Pacoima, CA) went undefeated throughout the two matches, while freshman Amber Bangma (Long Beach, CA) and sophomore Breana Torres (Long Beach, CA) mirrored their outputs by not dropping a set in both matches. In the match against Palomar, Torres and Bangma did not allow their opponent to reach over six points in either set, while Poon and Payan allowed 10 points or fewer in each set.

All scores are listed below.

The Vikings (7-0) will return to their home sand on Friday, March 24th by hosting the Rio Hondo College Roadrunners and the El Camino College Warriors in conference action at Granada Beach in Long Beach, CA. The first match is set to begin at 10 a.m.
