The Long Beach City College beach volleyball squad rounded out regular-season play on Friday at Grossmont College with a pair of matchups featuring San Diego Mesa and Rio Hondo. The Vikings dropped just one set the entire day by defeating both teams in the way of 5-0.
The Vikings began the day with a non-conference contest against San Diego Mesa. Sophomore Sarah Miller (Long Beach, CA) and freshman Paige Panter (Southgate, TX) held down the first court with ease en route to a two-set win with scores reading 21-18 and 21-15. Freshman pair Jordan Diaz (La Habra, CA) and Marina Adolpho (Long Beach, CA) backed them with a strong performance on the second quarter with scores reading 21-18, 16-21, 8-15 in a three-set victory.
Freshman Valeria Payan (Pacioma, CA) and sophomore Geraldine Poon (Long Beach, CA) earned a two-set win along with sophomore Breana Torres (Long Beach, CA) and freshman Fayleen Valdez (Long Beach, CA).
After defeating San Diego Mesa, the Vikings moved on to Rio Hondo and saw identical results – this time not dropping a single set.
Freshman Mariah Clausen (Bellflower, CA) and sophomore Jessica Kaeka (Long Beach, CA) earned a two set victory as well by nabbing scores of 21-12 and 21-8 after their two-set victory against San Diego Mesa. Miller and Panter continued to cruise by earning a two set victory along with Payan/Poon, Diaz/Adolpho, and Torres/Valdez.

The Vikings finished the regular season with an overall record of 13-4 that included a 6-4 conference mark. They will be the host of the 2017 Conference Championships at Granada Beach in Long Beach, CA on Friday, April 28th. The tournament will begin at 9 a.m.
