Beach Volleyball Takes Down Cypress, Rio Hondo and WestCliff on Home Sand

The Long Beach City College Beach Volleyball team went 3-0 this morning against Rio Hondo College, Cypress College and WestCliff University. With their fourth-consecutive win, the Vikings improve to 7-2 overall and are 1-0 in conference action.

In their conference match against Rio Hondo, the Vikings swept the Roadrunners 5-0. Sophomores Sierra Davis and Brooklin Mize, Isabella Alvarez and Doris Woods, Kaitlyn Peterson and Elsa Woods, and freshman Brooke Gonsalves and sophomore Emma Harris all defeated their opponents 2-0.

In the second match against Cypress, the Vikings brought out the brooms again with a 5-0 win. Sophomores Kylee Irwin-Paz and Jessica Blakeman fought until the end with a 2-1 win and finalized the victory over the Chargers for the Vikings.

WestCliff University pushed back against the Vikings in the third and final match of the day, but Long Beach was able to conquer through it and win 3-2.

Overall, Gonsalves and Harris, E. Woods and Peterson, and Alvarez and D. Woods did not lose one single match the entire day.

The Vikings will return to action next Friday, Mar. 15 against Mt. San Antonio College at 10 a.m. at Granada Beach.
