Beach Volleyball Advances Two Pairs to CCCAA State Pairs Championship

The Vikings advance both pairs in the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Southern California Regionals to the CCCAA State Pairs Championship on Friday, May 10 at the Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center.

In the SoCal Regionals, sophomores No. 16 Elsa Woods and Kaitlyn Peterson defeated No. 17 San Diego City Baron/Schaal (21-14, 21-13) in a two-set sweep. Then E. Woods/Peterson  fell to No. 1 Grossmont Goycoochea/Morris in two sets (21-8, 21-17) in the Top 16 Round.

Sophomores No. 9 Doris Woods and Isabella Alvarez first defeated No. 24 Santa Ana Mumford/Pooee (21-9, 21-16) in two, and then took down No. 25 College of the Canyon Lyneis/Smith (21-19, 21-17) in the Top 16. They advanced to the quarterfinals to take on No. 1 Grossmont Goycoochea/Morris, but then fell in two sets (22-20, 21-10). Grossmont went on to win the SoCal Regional Pairs Championship.

E. Woods/Peterson will now go into the CCCAA State Pairs Championship with a No. 10 ranking and are in Pool #2 with No. 2 Cypress Berneker/Zavala, No. 7 Feather River Nagase/Carnes, No. 18 El Camino College K. Donatucci/Villasenor. 

D.Woods/Alvarez are now ranked No. 8 going into the CCCAA State Pairs Championship and are in Pool #4 with No. 19 MiraCosta Lomax/Evans and No. 1 West Valley Sekona/Henderson, No. 9 Cabrillo Cary/Skucius.
