A pair of former Long Beach City College baseball players are currently playing for national championships at the next level. Second baseman Derrick Garcia is playing in the NCAA Division II World Series for Colorado Mesa University while shortstop Avery Flores is at Oklahoma Wesleyan University playing in the NAIA World Series.

The South Coast Conference champion Long Beach City College baseball team has received the No. 14 seed for the upcoming 2014 CCCAA Southern California Regional Playoffs and will take on No.3 Santa Ana College in a three-game series starting on Friday.
Long Beach City College turned a close game into a blowout as the Vikings rolled to their sixth straight win, a 12-2 victory at El Camino College on Friday, to close out the regular season and earn them a share of the 2014 South Coast Conference championship.

Long Beach City College sophomore pitcher Nick Wood has signed a National Letter of Intent to continue his academic and athletic career at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma next year.
