Baseball Suffers Tough Loss in Extra Innings

The Long Beach City College baseball team fell in the tenth inning 4-3 after rallying to tie the game in the ninth inning. With the loss, the Vikings drop to 1-3.

Pitcher Noel Soto received his first loss of the season on the mound with one run on two hits, while striking out seven in two innings of work.

The Wildcats score their first two runs in the top of the third inning off a double. Then they bounced back in the top of the sixth with a homer to left field.

The Vikings bounced back in the bottom of the sixth inning with freshman first baseman Zach Rivas batting in sophomore second baseman Travis Aversa.

The Vikings pushed forward as freshman sophomore short shop Chris Rubottom hit an RBI single to bring in sophomore left fielder Raul Gonzalez for the Vikings' second run.

In the bottom of the ninth, the Vikings rallied as they loaded the bases with two outs. Freshman pinch runner Carter White saw his opportunity on a wild pitch and scored to tie the game 3-3.

The Wildcats came back in the top of the tenth and scored one more to take home the 4-3 win.

The Vikings will return to action on Thursday, Jan. 31 against Pierce College at 2 p.m. at the Viking Baseball Field.
