Baseball Falls to the Moorpark Raiders in One Run Battle

The Long Beach City College baseball team fell to the Moorpark College Raiders in a tough 2-1 loss on Tuesday afternoon. With the loss, the Vikings drop to 6-8 overall.

The Raiders were on the board first with two runs in the first inning to start the game.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, sophomore first baseman Mark Stanford doubled to center field to score in freshman designated hitter Zach Rivas for the Vikings only run.

Freshman pitcher Sebastian Irwin (1-1) took home his first loss on the mound as he allowed the Raiders two runs on five hits, while striking out two.

The Vikings will return to action on Friday, Feb. 28 at Pasadena College for their first South Coast Conference game of the season at 2 p.m.
