Vazquez Celebrates Complete Game Win With 8-1 Victory Over LA Mission

The No. 18 Long Beach City College Baseball team defeated the LA Mission College Eagles 8-1 on Friday afternoon. With the win, the Vikings advance to 22-12 overall.

Freshman pitcher Evan Vazquez (5-3) had a complete game as he only allowed one run on five hits, while striking out four for the entirety of the game.

The Vikings opened the game with a two RBI triple from freshman designated hitter Raul Garcia, then Garcia scored on an Eagle wild pitch to lead LA Mission 3-0.

In the top of the fourth, the Eagles scored off a sacrifice fly to close in on the Vikings 3-1.

The in the bottom of the fifth, the Vikings scored three runs from freshman shortstop Alex Seguine, freshman first baseman Matthew Pinal, and freshman center fielder Bryan Sanders.

Seguine was near perfect at the dish, as he went four-for-five and tallied three runs.

Freshman left fielder Tyler Bermundo scored the Vikings' seventh run with a walk to the plate, and then Seguine finished the reign over LA Mission with a run from a sacrifice fly to finalize the 8-1 win.

The Long Beach City College Vikings will be back in action on Tuesday, April 19 against East Los Angeles College at 2:30 p.m.
