Vikings Take Down Pierce College Brahmas 8-2

The Long Beach City College Vikings triumphed over the Pierce College Brahmas with a decisive 8-2 victory on Tuesday afternoon. Pitcher Luis Guzman claimed the (0-1) win with a solid performance, allowing only two runs on seven hits while striking out one batter. Benjamin Dorantes, in a stellar display of expertise, secured his inaugural save, stifling Pierce with just one hit and striking out four in the final four innings.

Pierce made an early statement, scoring one run in the second inning and adding another in the third, but the Vikings quickly rallied. In the bottom of the fourth frame, Ryan Geck unleashed a soaring home run into left field, igniting the Vikings' offense. James Provencio followed suit, showcasing his speed as he stole home to notch the team's second run. AJ Quezada then delivered an RBI double to bring Davis Grawey across the plate, and Xander McLaurin capped off the surge with an RBI single, scoring Caleb Brandon and propelling the Vikings into a 4-2 lead.

In the eighth inning, the Vikings once again flexed their offensive muscles. McLaurin lifted a sacrifice fly, Reef Danner drove in a run with a clutch single, and Olin Snakenborg delivered the final blow with a thunderous 2RBI double, securing the commanding 8-2 victory for the Vikings.

The Long Beach City College baseball team will return to battle on Thursday, February 29, facing off against Pierce College once more at 1:30 p.m.
