Vikings Unleash Offensive Onslaught to Stun Cerritos

In a stunning upset, the No. 9 Long Beach City College baseball team dominated the No. 2 Cerritos College Falcons with an impressive 18-3 victory in the opening game of their three-game conference showdown. With this victory, the Vikings bolster their record to 27-11 overall, maintaining a solid 16-6 standing within the South Coast Conference.

Pitcher Dylan Proost (6-2) delivered a masterful performance on the mound, conceding a mere five hits and three runs to the Falcons while striking out three batters over six innings. Logan Carr (Sv. 1) sealed the deal, securing his first save by blanking the Falcons for the final three innings and striking out four.

Although the Falcons managed to notch three runs in the first inning, the Vikings swiftly retaliated with a barrage of runs, asserting their dominance with two runs in both the first and second frames, followed by one run in the third, a staggering nine runs in the fourth, and four more in the eighth, completely overwhelming the No. 2 seed in SoCal.

Xander McLaurin showcased his efforts at the plate, going three-for-five with three runs, including a powerful home run, and three RBIs. Olin Snakenborg contributed significantly with four RBIs and two runs, while AJ Quezada blasted a home run and notched three runs and three RBIs. Additionally, Caleb Brandon, Luke Davis, Ryan Geck, and Brett Abudayyeh all chipped in with two runs each, collectively contributing to the resounding 18-3 victory.

The Vikings will return to the diamond on Thursday, April 25, for the second game of the series, set to take place at Cerritos College at 2 p.m.
