Football: LBCC closes season with 51-36 loss to Golden West in Central Championship Bowl

The Long Beach City College football team closed out the 2011 season with a 51-36 loss to Golden West College in the Central Championship Bowl at Orange Coast College's LeBard Stadium on Saturday night.

LBCC lost for the second time this season to Golden West. In the season opener for both squads, the Rustlers shutout the Vikings 42-0.

Although the score was vastly different, the outcome was the same on Saturday. LBCC struck first when sophomore Willie Bobbitt caught the first of his two touchdown passes from sophomore quaterback Ryan Craighead. The four-yard TD pass gave LBCC a 7-0 lead at the 11:11 mark in the first.

But Golden West responded with 27 unaswered to put the game out of reach. Freshman Jerramie Jackson's two-yard touchdown run with 5:17 to go in the third got LBCC within 16 points at 37-21, but the Vikings would get no closer.

Bobbitt was named Offensive Player of the Game after catching 13 passes for 205 yards with two TDs.
