This week's Long Beach City College football game against Orange Coast College has officially had its start time moved from 1 to 6 pm on Saturday at Veterans Memorial Stadium.

With temperatures projected to be in the mid 90s on Saturday, LBCC head coach Mike Reisbig (pictured) along with athletic trainer Mary Aja and interim athletic director Randy Totorp agreed it would be in the best interest of the student-athletes to play the game later in the evening.

"Bottom line it all comes down to a safety issue for the players," Reisbig said. "It is supposed to be around 10 degrees warmer than it was last week. And it was close to 100 degrees Saturday on the turf."

For the past two seasons, LBCC has scheduled its home games at 1 pm. Long Beach last played a 6 pm home game on November 14, 2009 against Orange Coast.

Long Beach will look to capture its first win of the season this weekend after a pair of tough losses. OCC enters the contest with a 1-1 overall record.
