Football: Potter named Central Conference Player of the Week for third time

WEEK 9 CENTRAL CONFERENCE PLAYERS OF THE WEEK 

The Southern California Football Association has named Long Beach City College freshman quarterback Kenny Potter (San Pedro HS) the Central Conference Offensive Player of the Week for his performance against Mt. San Antonio College on Saturday.

Potter posted season-highs with 31 completions, 56 attempts, and 430 passing yards in the Vikings' 43-35 loss to Mt. SAC. Potter completed touchdown passes of 11, 19, and six yards. He also ran for 34 yards.

This week's selection marks the third time this season Potter has received the honor. Potter tossed four touchdowns and ran for two more in a Week 2 loss to Ventura College and totaled 475 yards of offense (301 yards passing, 174 yards rushing) in a Week 6 victory over Santa Ana College.

Freshman wide receiver De'Quan Hampton (Dominguez HS) and sophomore kicker Matt Mengel (Pacific Lutheran HS) were also nominated for weekly honors.
 
Potter and the Vikings return to action on Saturday (Nov 9) when they travel to Citrus College for a 1 p.m. conference game.
