The Long Beach City College Football team improved to 6-0 on the season thanks to a 31-21 come-from-behind win against Allan Hancock College at Righetti High School in Santa Maria on Saturday.

Long Beach, ranked No. 3 in the nation and No. 2 in the state, trailed 14-0 in the second quarter and was down 21-17 to open the fourth before rallying to outscore Allan Hancock 14-0 in the final period.

The Vikings finally took their first lead of the contest after freshman Royce Moore (St. John Bosco HS) ran in from two-yards out at the 12:33 mark to put LBCC up 24-21.

On Hancock's ensuing drive, the Vikings put together a goal line stand, stopping AHC quarterback Curry Parham inside the one-yard line with 7:48 to play. The fourth-down stop by freshmen Griffith Dieth (Lakewood HS) and Kiante Goudeau (Edison HS) set up a 99-yard Long Beach scoring drive.

On third-down from the Vikings' one-yard line, sophomore quarterback Brock Dale (Lakewood HS) connected with sophomore De'Quan Hampton (Dominguez HS) for a 27-yard reception to extend the drive. Moore closed out the drive with a five-yard touchdown run to give the Vikings' the 10-point lead with 3:30 left in the game.

Dale had another impressive game in place of starting sophomore starting quarterback Kenny Potter (San Pedro HS). He completed 16 of 34 passes for 234 yards.  His five-yard touchdown run in the second got the Vikings on the board, while his seven-yard touchdown pass to sophomore Jeremy Villa (Downey HS) tied up the game with 24 seconds left in the first half.

Moore led Long Beach on the ground with 78 yards on 15 carries with two TDs while Hampton hauled in five receptions for 75 yards to lead the LBCC receivers.

On defense, both sophomore Matthew Rowe (Poly HS) and freshman Christian Woo (Mayfair HS) had 10 tackles.

Long Beach returns to National Central League action next Saturday (Oct. 18) when it travels to Chaffey College for a 6 p.m. game.
