Jake Maier Named SCFA Week Five Offensive Player of the Week

Freshman quarterback Jake Maier (La Habra, CA) has successfully helmed one of the most potent offensive units in the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) for the past five weeks. His talents have been recognized for the second time this season by being named the Southern California Football Association (SCFA) Offensive Player of the Week for week five.

Maier continued to display a knack for finding his receivers in the end zone in a 42-20 victory over the Golden West College Rustlers last Saturday. The freshman phenome diced up the Rustler's secondary by tossing four touchdown passes for 198 yards to equal a completion percentage of 58%.

Maier ranks third in the CCCAA in yards-per-game with 321 and is one touchdown shy of the top-spot in passing touchdowns as he currently ranks second overall with 19.

Reliable has been Maier's middle name. He has been able to toss a touchdown pass in each contest so far this season while only throwing two interceptions in 179 attempts. Additionally, he has amassed 1605 yards through the air with a nine yard average per attempt.
