Vikings Fall to Riverside City College on Home Turf

The No. 13 Long Beach City College Vikings fell in their third home game to the No. 4 Riverside City College Tigers on Saturday evening 47-0. With the loss, Long Beach drops to 2-2 overall.

The Tigers were on the attack the entire game. Freshman defensive back Jack Genova, from Mater Dei High School, was the stand out on the field with 11 total stops, one break-up, and one sack against the Tigers' quarterback. Sophomore defensive back Justin Allmond and freshman defensive lineman King Joseph Maaele also were big stops to the Tigers' offense with nine total tackles each.

On the offensive side, freshman wide receiver Kalen Simmons rallied in the fourth quarter with a 50-yard return for the Vikings. He totaled 125 in returns and averaged 25 yards for the game.

Quarterback Drake Peabody finished the first half with 62 yards in the air and 60 yards on the ground. Freshman quarterback Jonathan Murphy then came in the second half and totaled 30 yards in passing and 28 in rushing.

The Vikings will play again on the road next Saturday, Sept. 29 at Cerritos College at 6 p.m.
