The Long Beach City College football team saw sophomore defensive end Shane Irwin, sophomore defensive tackle Divine Obichere, sophomore cornerback Malik Welch and freshman cornerback Dallas Branch all sign Division 1 National Letters of Intent to further their athletic and academic careers at the next level.

Irwin and Obichere both signed with Boise State University, while Welch signed with San Jose State University and Branch signed with San Diego State University.

This season, Irwin was a unanimous decision in the conference for First-Team honors as he totaled 8.5 sacks for a loss of 58 yards and 47 tackles.

Obichere was a huge defensive asset to the Vikings as he earned First-Team selection, had 46 tackles with four sacks and a loss of 20 yards and one fumble recovery. Obichere was also named the Southern California Bowl MVP in the final game of the season.

Both Irwin and Obichere's defensive abilities will be a great addition for the Broncos.

Welch made the Second-Team accolades this year for his defensive efforts totaling 51 total tackles, two interceptions and had one sack for the Vikings. Welch's skills as a cornerback will help the Spartans' defensive unit.

Branch was also another unanimous decision in the conference for First-Team selections as he had 50 tackles, six interceptions and three sacks. Branch will be a huge asset to the Aztecs' defense next Fall.
