Vikings Dominate East Los Angeles in 24-6 Conference Win

The Long Beach City College Vikings defeated the East Los Angeles College Huskies 24-6 in their second conference game of the season on Friday evening at Veterans Memorial Stadium. With the win, the Vikings advance to 3-4 overall and are 1-1 in conference play. 

In the first drive of the game, the Vikings covered 58 yards and scored a touchdown in five plays with a 36-yard pass from sophomore quarterback Derrach West to sophomore wide receiver Zack Leets. Freshman kicker Ryder Padilla nailed the PAT and the Vikings were on the scoreboard 7-0. Then to top of the first quarter, West ran in a 4-yard touchdown to extend the lead 14-0, with the kick from Padilla.

In the second quarter, sophomore tight end TJ Easter ran one in for 10-yards to extend their shutout to 21-0. 

In the second half, the Vikings smashed a 22-yard field goal from Padilla to up the ante to 24-0. Finally the Vikings allowed the Huskies to a run, but shut down their two-point conversion in the fourth quarter to finish the game with the 24-6 win.

The VIkings defense was on point as freshman linebacker Daylen Pedroza led the team with six tackles for the game. Sophomore defensive back Jayden (JD) Davis and sophomore defensive back Trey Edwards III both had five tackles each, while Edwards snagged a 48-yard interception,and had two breakups.

The Long Beach City College Vikings will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 30 at Bakersfield College at 6 p.m.
