Men's Basketball: Vikings cap 2-1 weekend at IVC tourney with 83-68 win over Ventura

Sophomore Chris Camper (Poly HS) had 23 points and eight rebounds while freshman Jeremiah Blandin (Poly HS) totaled 21 points and nine rebounds to help lead the Long Beach City College men's basketball team to an 83-68 win over Ventura College on Saturday in the consolation championship game of the 21st annual Irvine Valley College Classic.

LBCC went 2-1 in Irvine to improve to 5-2 overall this season.

Blandin was named to the IVC Classic all-tournament team after averaging 12.3 points and 10.3 rebounds over three games. He had a huge game on the boards for the Vikings in their 66-58 victory over Cuyamaca College on Friday. Blandin had a season-high 17 rebounds to go with 13 points.

For the weekend, Camper averaged 20.7 points and 7.3 rebounds. He also came up big for the Vikings in the Cuyamaca win, scoring 27 points and grabbing seven rebounds.

LBCC opened the tourney with a tough 88-58 loss to host and eventual tournament champion Irvine Valley. The Vikings shot just 28 percent (16 for 56) from the field for the game. Freshman Ahmad Malone (Chicago, IL) led Long Beach with 13 points off the bench while Camper was held to a season-low 12 points.

Long Beach returns to action on Tuesday (Nov. 24) at 5:30 p.m. when the Vikings host Santa Ana College in a non-conference game.
