Vikings Claim Victory Over the El Camino Warriors

The men's basketball team won their fifth conference game of the season over the El Camino Warriors 99-87. The Vikings now are 16-11 overall and 5-3 in the South Coast Conference. During the game the Vikings were 75% at the free throw line and totaled 46 rebounds.

The Warriors opened the game with a jumper to initially take the lead. Freshman guard Jamiu Akinbile was the first to the hoop for the Vikings to put them on the board.

Freshman guard Jordan Heard led the assists in the first half with four and had one steal. William English totaled 11 points and had six rebounds to lead into the second half.

In the second half of the game, Heard was on fire at the three point line with going four-for-four to help the Vikings extend their lead. English totaled 22 more points and was perfect at his free throws going six-for-six.

Akinbile had seven rebounds in the second half to keep the offense moving for the Vikings. He scored 16 points in the second half to ultimately lead to a 99-87 victory for the Vikings.

The men's basketball team will play again on Wednesday, Feb. 14 at LA Southwest at 7 p.m.
