No. 6/10 Men’s Basketball Crowned South Coast Conference Champions After Ninth-Straight Win

The state-ranked No. 10 Long Beach City College men's basketball team was crowned the 2018-19 South Coast Conference Co-Champions after an 103-86 win over LA Southwest College. The Vikings share the title with Cerritos College as both teams went 9-1 in the South Coast Conference. This is the Vikings' first conference championship since 2015. The Vikings finished the regular season with nine-consecutive wins and an overall record of 24-4.

Before the game, the team celebrated sophomores Jordan Heard, Jeremiah Sadler, Garrett Roberts, Jamiu Akinbile, Charles Smith, Matthew Wooten, Daniel Canales and Nicolas Stuart in honor of Sophomore Night.

Long Beach came hungry for their final conference game and never gave the Cougars a chance to take the lead. In the first half of the game, freshman guard Jace Bass totaled 27 points and eight rebounds. Bass set a career-high record of totaling 39 points, 11 rebounds and six assist for the entire game.

In the second half, the Vikings pushed the Cougars further and scored 52 more points. Overall, Long Beach was 72% at the line and 39.3% at the three pointer mark. Wooten finished the game with 12 points and had eight rebounds.
