No. 6 Men's Basketball Hosts No. 11 Santiago Canyon in SoCal Regional Playoffs

The No. 6 Long Beach City College men's basketball team will host the No. 11 Santiago Canyon Hawks on Friday, Mar. 1 for the first round of the CCCAA Southern California Regional Playoffs in the Hall of Champions Gymnasium. Tip-off with be at 7 p.m. and live stats will be available on LBCCVikings.com.

Game tickets will be sold for $12 at the door. The cost for admission for seniors and students will be $8.

Santiago Canyon finished their season with 20-8 overall record, and in third place with a 9-3 record in the Orange Coast Conference.

In their final conference game last Friday, the Vikings were crowned South Coast Conference Co-Champions along with Cerritos College as both teams went 9-1. This is the Vikings' first conference championship since 2015, and tenth overall with their first conference crown in 1991.

The Vikings faced off with the Hawks earlier this season in the Santa Ana Tip-Off Tournament in November. Long Beach took down Santiago Canyon 74-62 in their second game of the tournament. Freshman guard Jace Bass was then named the Most Valuable Player of the tournament as he totaled 48 points in two games.
