No. 6 Vikings Ready to Take on Citrus in Final Round of Regionals

The No. 6 Long Beach City College men's basketball team will travel to No. 5 Citrus College on Saturday, Mar. 9 for the final round of the CCCAA Southern California Regional Playoffs. Tip-off will be at 7 p.m. and the winner of the game will move on to the CCCAA State Championships at Ventura College on Mar. 14, 16-17.

In the second round of the regional playoffs last Friday, the Vikings took down the No. 13 Santiago Canyon Hawks 78-70 for their tenth-consecutive win. Freshman guard Jace Bass led the team with 28 points, 12 rebounds, and had 10 assists and two steals. Freshman guard Aaron Jelks and sophomore guard Jeremiah Sadler both totaled 10 points for Long Beach and sophomore forward Charles Smith was a force on defense as he had four blocks against the Hawks.

The Fighting Owls finished their season with 22-6 overall record, and in first place with an undefeated 10-0 record in the Western State-East Conference. Last Friday, they defeated Cuesta College 95-58 in the second round to move on to the final round of the SoCal Regionals and host the Vikings.
