Vikings complete second-half comeback to beat Canyons on the road 86-83

SANTA CLARITA – Lorenzo Marsh scored a game-high 30 points, including a huge three-pointer late in the game, to help lead Long Beach City College to an 86-83 come-from-behind victory at College of the Canyons on Tuesday night.

The Vikings won their second straight to improve to 4-3 overall.

Long Beach trailed 46-34 at halftime but battled all the way back to erase the 12-point deficit. Midway through the second and down 64-56, LBCC used an 8-1 run to get within one point (65-64) after a pair of free throws by Marsh.

With 1:51 left, Marsh nailed a clutch three-pointer to give LBCC a brief 79-78 advantage. A layup by Canyons' Jonah El-Farra at the 1:32 mark put the Cougars back out in front, but Shane Hunter's layup with 1:17 to play as well as another with 26 seconds remaining sealed the victory for the Vikings.

Bonard Johnson Jr added 16 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists. Hunter totaled 12 points and 8 rebounds while Kameron Mayhan chipped in with 11 points and 5 rebounds.

Long Beach returns to action on Thursday (Dec. 1) when the Vikings will compete at the three-day West Los Angeles College Wild West Shootout. LBCC is set to take on Orange Coast College at 1 p.m. in its opening game.
