Vikings End Perfect Record With a Tie Against El Camino

The men's soccer team tied the El Camino Warriors 1-1 in their first conference game of the season on Tuesday afternoon at the Viking Soccer Field, and ultimately ending their perfect record.

Both teams worked tirelessly and aggressive from the beginning of the first initial whistle. In the 59th minute, freshman defender Anthony Mejia scored the goal for Long Beach from a corner kick from freshman midfielder Ruben Mejivar.

Sophomore goalkeeper Andres Figueroa-Flores held the defense together for the Vikings the entire game. The Warriors scored the final goal to tie the game in the 87th minute. Figueroa-Flores had two saves with three shots on goal.

Sophomore forward Christopher Ribet, sophomore midfielder Fabio Mujica and freshman midfielder Ricardo Arroyo all had two shots on the Warriors cage.

Men's soccer will play again in their second conference game on Friday, Sept. 29 at Compton College at 2 p.m.
