Men’s Soccer Brings in Six All-Conference Selections

It was recently announced by the South Coast Conference (SCC) South Division that six Long Beach City College men's soccer players earned All-SCC South honors following a 4-1-3 conference record. Sophomore midfielder Ruben Menjivar, sophomore forward Carlos Maldonado, sophomore defender Adrian Martinez all brought in first-team accolades, while freshman defender Javier Gonzalez, freshman defender Jaelyn Agu and freshman midfielder Sergio Flores all earned second-team honors.

Maldonado earned his first-team All-SCC award after leading the SCC with 15 assists and was third in conference with nine goals. Maldonado was force on the field and would move past his opponents with ease with his quick feet.

Menjivar took home his second All-SCC first-team selection for his offensive efforts as a midfielder. He totaled eight goals this season and was the go-to for penalty goals and corner kicks. His leadership shined on the field and he led the team in a positive manner to victory.

Martinez rounded out the All-SCC first-team honors for his work as a defender. He helped maintain a strong backline and led the defenders with finesse and confidence.

Gonzalez earned second-team accolades for his effort on the backline with Martinez. Gonzalez used his physicality against his opponents to protect his area. Gonzalez was explosive and proved to be a defensive asset to his team.

Agu also reeled in second-team selection for his defensive style. He rounded out the Vikings' back row with his passion and high-energy style.

Flores finished out the selections for All-SCC with his second-team honors. This season, Flores totaled seven goals with four assists. He was a constant threat on the field with his strong style skill set.
