The 2022 men's soccer season continues for Long Beach City College. On Monday, the Vikings received the No. 6 seed for the upcoming Southern California Regional Playoffs. Brackets were announced by the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA).

Long Beach received a first-round bye and will host the winner of No. 11 Rio Hondo College and No. 22 MiraCosta College in a second-round game on Saturday (Nov. 19) as part of a playoff doubleheader with the LBCC women's soccer team. The men are scheduled to play at 5 p.m. followed by the women's game at 7 p.m.

Ticket prices for the CCCAA postseason game are $12 for general admission and $8 for all identified students, faculty, staff, senior citizens age 60 and over, and children under 12 years old.

Long Beach, under head coach Jorge Reyes, is making its second straight postseason appearance. The Vikings enter the playoffs with an 8-5-8 overall record and finished third in the South Coast Conference South Division at 3-4-3.

Last season, LBCC suffered a 3-2 loss in overtime against Bakersfield College in its opening-round game.

Rio Hondo earned a share of the South Coast Conference North Division championship by going 5-3-1 and is 11-9-3 overall. MiraCosta captured the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference title with a 9-1-2 record and wrapped up the regular season at 9-7-4.

Three wins are needed by Long Beach to advance to the 2022 CCCAA State Championships on Dec. 2 & 4 at American River College in Sacramento.
