Men’s Swimming & Diving: Vikings cruise to 179-64 dual meet win at Pasadena

Long Beach City College opened its South Coast Conference dual meet schedule with a 179-64 win at Pasadena City College on Friday. The Long Beach men won 12 out of 15 events at the dual meet on their way to the easy victory.

Sophomore Frankie Cervantes (Granite Bay HS) and freshman Mark Denison (Millikan HS) both won three individual events to lead the Vikings. Cervantes picked up victories in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:03.15), 200 breaststroke (2:19.30) and 200 IM (2:10.70) while Denison took first in the 1000-yard freestyle (11:35.19), 50 freestyle (22.76), and 100 freestyle (50.27).

Double winners were sophomore Ryan Dionne (Yorba Lina HS) in the 200-yard butterfly (2:10.1) and 100 butterfly (57.04) as well as sophomore Conor Shuey (Palo Verde HS, NV) in the 200 freestyle (1:54.46) and 500 freestyle (5:30.74).

Both LBCC relay teams also won their events as the Vikings swam 3:28.87 in the 400 freestyle relay and 1:44.32 in the 200 medley relay.

The LBCC men's and women's swimming & diving teams will be back in action next weekend (Mar. 11-12) at the Cuesta College Invitational.
