Aquatics Athletes Sign Letters of Intent

Sophomore water polo and men's swimming athlete Carl Matthews from Yorba Linda, Calif. has signed a National Letter of Intent to continue his academic and athletic career at the University of Redlands. Also, sophomore water polo and women's swimming athlete Lindsey Mizrahi from Cypress, Calif. has signed a National Letter of Intent to continue her academic and athletic career at Mercyhurst University.

Matthews was named to the All-South Coast Conference (SCC) First-Team list as a goalkeeper for the men's water polo team this season. The men's team went undefeated during their conference season and placed third in the California Community College Athletics Association Championships.

During the 2018 swim season, Matthews placed third in the SCC Championships in the 100 yard backstroke by shaving three seconds off his seed time and finalized his bronze medal with a 1:07.37.

Matthews will compete at the University of Redlands, starting this upcoming Fall season. The Bulldogs are led by Tom Whittemore and compete at the NCAA Division III level and are a member of the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

After helping the women's water polo haul in their third-consecutive SCC Championship title, Mizrahi was named to the All-SCC First-Team accolades by being an offensive threat in the set position. This season, Mizrahi has scored 28 goals with 14 assists. This is Mizrahi's second All-SCC selection as last year she earned Second-Team nods for her offensive efforts.

During the 2018 swim season, Mizrahi took home the bronze medal in the SCC Championships by dropping four seconds off her 100 yard butterfly with 1:06.38.

Mizrahi will compete at Mercyhurst University, starting this upcoming Fall season. The Lakers are led by Curtis Robinette and compete at the NCAA Division II level and are a member of the Women's Water Polo Association.
