Swim Hosts First Conference Meet of the Season

The Long Beach City College men's and women's swim teams hosted the first South Coast Conference meet of the season at the Vikings Aquatics Complex. The women's team took first place while the men's team placed second against Pasadena City College and Chaffey College.

For the women's team, freshman Karissa Qualley placed first in all her events. She swam the 200 yard free with a time of 2:12.82, the 200 butterfly with a 2:42.19, and the 200 backstroke with a 2:35.61. Freshman Victoria Rowe also placed first in all her events with a 59.91 in the 100 freestyle, 1:04.46 in the 100 butterfly, and 2:32.94 in the 200 Individual medley.

On the men's side, Freshman Michael Baker placed first in the 100 yard backstroke with a 57.10 and in the 200 backstroke with a 2:06.06. Freshman Josh Harvey also had a first place finish in the 50 yard freestyle with a 22.08 finish.

The Vikings swim team will be back in action on Saturday, Mar. 8 at the Cuesta Invitational.
