Swim Claims South Coast Conference Championship, Bradley Adamson Named Coach of the Year

The Long Beach City College men and women's swim teams both captured the South Coast Conference Championship swimming and diving titles. It is the first time the Vikings have won on the women's side since 2006 and first for the men since 2012.  

It came down to the final race for the men's team as they trailed Mt. San Antonio by four points. The men's 4x100 relay team came in at 3:11.91 to claim the title, while the Mounties were a hair behind at 3:13.65.

Head Coach Bradley Adamson earned the SCC Coach of the Year award for both men's and women's swimming. Freshmen Kaya Barrett and Atiya Yuwana both were named the SCC Women's Co-Swimmers of the Year.

Here are all the Viking first place finishes from the SCC Championships:

Mazen Abouelela, Nicolas Fedotov, Kai Goeku, Sullivan Moore- 4 x 100 Relay

Mazen Abouelela- 500 Freestyle, 200 Freestyle

Jake Fransen- 1 Meter Dive, 3 Meter Dive

Sullivan Moore- 100 Butterfly, 100 Freestyle

Rachel Westphal, Atiya Yuwana, Daphne Wilder and Kaya Barrett- 4 x 100 Relay (fourth fastest time in the state)

Atyia Yuwana- 200 Backstroke, 100 Backstroke, 200 Individual Medley

Kaya Barrett- 50 Freestyle, 200 Freestyle, 100 Freestyle
