Men's Volleyball: Former Viking Chris Austin wins NCAA Championship

Former Viking Chris Austin helped lead UC Irvine to a men's volleyball NCAA Championship on Saturday. Austin, the starting setter for the Anteaters, had 48 assists and a season-high 15 digs in the national championship final win over USC.

UC Irvine won the match by scores of 25-22, 34-32, 26-24 in front of a crowd 9,612 at the Galen Center to earn its third national title in six years.

Austin was named to the NCAA Championships all-tournament team.

Austin was a first-team All-Western State Conference selection for LBCC in 2011 and helped lead the Vikings to a pair of conference titles and State Championship semifinals appearances (2010-11).
