Men’s Volleyball: Vikings push win streak to seven with sweep at San Diego City

Long Beach City College extended its winning streak to seven matches thanks to a 25-22, 25-16, 25-12 victory at San Diego City College on Friday night. The non-conference win improved the Vikings to 7-2 overall.

Sophomore Joshua Nehls (Warren HS) led Long Beach with 11 kills and seven digs. Sophomore Cesar Renteria (Bell HS) totaled a team-high six blocks to go with eight kills while freshman Andrew Pearson (Huntington Beach HS) added six kills and three blocks.

Freshmen setters Gary Trejo (Warren HS) and Jayce Ashment (Gilbert, AZ/Highland HS) combined for 28 assists, collecting 14 each. Ashment also added two blocks on the night.

Long Beach returns to action on Tuesday (Mar. 2) when the Vikings open Western State Conference play with a 6 p.m. match at Santa Barbara City College.
