Men’s Volleyball: Long Beach win streak at 11, Vikings beat Santa Monica 3-1 on the road

Long Beach City College added to its impressive winning streak as the Vikings picked up their 11th straight victory, a 3-1 win at Santa Monica College on Wednesday night. LBCC won the Western State Conference match by scores of 25-18, 16-25, 25-19, 25-20 to improve to 11-2 overall and 4-0 in conference play.

Sophomore Joshua Nehls (Warren HS) led the Vikings with 13 kills while hitting .429 on the night. He also added eight digs.

Freshman Andrew Pearson (Huntington Beach HS) also had a good match with 12 kills and 10 digs while freshmen setters Jayce Ashment (Gilbert, AZ/Highland HS) and Gary Trejo (Warren HS) combined for 33 assists.

Long Beach returns to action on Friday (Mar. 18) as the Vikings host Moorpark College in a 6 p.m. WSC match. The Vikings will begin a stretch four straight matches at home, including five of their next six in the Viking Gym.
