Men's Volleyball: Long Beach sweeps Santa Barbara for 14th straight win

Sophomore Joshua Nehls (Warren HS) had 15 kills and eight digs while freshman Andrew Pearson (Huntington Beach HS) totaled 11 kills, 11 digs, and four blocks to help lead Long Beach City College to its 14th straight victory, a 25-16, 26-24, 25-18 sweep of visiting Santa Barbara City College on Friday. The Western State Conference win improved the Vikings to 14-2 overall and 7-0 in conference play.

Long Beach outhit Santa Barbara (8-6, 3-4 WSC) .320-.120 and totaled 14 blocks in the shortened three-set match.

Other key contributors for LBCC included freshman Jordan Molina (Carson HS) with 14 digs, freshman Gary Trejo (Warren HS) with 45 assists, and freshman Elai Mama (Mayfair HS) with six blocks and five kills.

Long Beach returns to action next Friday (Apr. 1) when the Vikings host L.A. Pierce College in a 6 p.m. WSC match.
