Men’s Volleyball: Vikings’ win streak at 16, pick up 3-1 victory at El Camino

Long Beach City College extended its winning streak to 16 matches with its 3-1 victory at El Camino College on Wednesday night. The Vikings beat the Warriors by scores of 25-15, 25-19, 18-25, 25-22 to improve to 16-2 overall and 9-0 in Western State Conference play.

The Vikings can wrap up a conference championship as well as a spot in the CCCAA State Championship semifinals with a win over second-place Santa Monica College on Friday (Apr. 8) at 6 p.m. LBCC looks to win its first conference title since 2013.

On Wednesday, sophomore Joshua Nehls (Warren HS) and freshman Andrew Pearson (Huntington Beach HS) once again paced the Vikings' offense by combining for 31 of Long Beach's 44 kills on the night. Nehls led all with 16 kills to go with two blocks while Pearson had 15 kills, four digs, and two blocks.

Sophomore Charles Belvin (Lakewood HS) also had a good match for the Vikings as he totaled nine kills and seven blocks while freshman Gary Trejo (Warren HS) added 36 assists, four digs, and three blocks.

El Camino (9-8, 6-4 WSC) was led by Nehemiah Iosua's 14 kills and six digs.
