The Long Beach City College men's volleyball team continues to make a named for itself in 2017 as the Vikings have been tabbed the top squad in the state according to the first California Community College Men's Volleyball Coaches Association State Poll of the season.

Long Beach, the defending state champions, holds the top spot in the poll by a wide margin by receiving first-place votes from all 10 coaches. The Vikings opened their season with a straight-set victory over Grossmont College with set scores reading 25-17, 25-19, and 25-15. Freshman outside hitter Cyrus Fa'Alogo (Salt Lake City, UT) led the way with 14 kills. Sophomore middle Elai Mama (Moreno Valley, CA) backed him with seven kills and six block assists.
