No. 1 Men's Volleyball Defeat Miramar, Advance to State Championships

After bringing in their third-consecutive Western State Southern Division Conference Championship, the top-ranked men's volleyball team hosted and swept the No. 10 Miramar College Jets 3-0 on Friday evening in the first round of the California Community College Athletic Association state playoffs. The Vikings went full speed on the court and defeated the Jets with set-scores of 25-18, 25-20, and 25-19.

With the win, the Vikings further their winning-streak to 20 games in a row.

Sophomore opposite Steven Rotter led the team with 12 kills in the paint, and had four block assists.

Freshman setter Melbe Perez was a constant threat against the Jets by perfectly setting the ball for the Vikings throughout the game. He finished the game with 21 assists and three digs.

Sophomore outside hitter Andrew Pearson showed Miramar why he has the leading hitting percentage in the state and threw down average kill percentage of .727 for the game. Pearson totaled eight kills with two block assists, while serving up an ace.

Sophomore libero Steven Morales showed no mercy and was all over the court with 11 digs and four assists.

In total, the Vikings built offensive momentum within each set. The Vikings had 15 kills per set and by the final set they averaged a hitting percentage .400 as a team.
