Men’s Volleyball Takes Down Moorpark 3-1 in Conference Play

The No. 1 men's volleyball team defeated the No. 7 Moorpark College Raiders 3-1 on Friday evening in their second conference game on the season. With their sixth-consecutive win, the Vikings hold an 8-1 overall record and are 2-0 in the Western State Conference.

The Vikings were on top in the first two sets (25-23, 27-25), but then couldn't keep up in the third set and fell 26-24 to the Raiders. Long Beach took back the control in the fourth set and sealed the final set 25-21.

Sophomore setter Joseph Rocha shined on the court as the catalyst behind the ball with 50 assists for the Vikings. With his communication and precision, the Vikings were able to come back in the fourth set and dominate the rest of the game.

Freshman middle blocker Arsene Ponsin brought a top performance to the court as well with 23 kills and nine digs. Sophomore Kyler Tufuga also put on a show as an outside hitter and totaled 11 kills with two service aces and nine digs against the Raiders.

The Vikings will return to the court on Wed., Mar. 4 against Santiago Canyon at 6 p.m.
