Men’s Water Polo: Long Beach opens conference play with 22-4 win at Rio Hondo

Sophomore Conor Shuey (Albuquerque, NM) had a game-high four goals while nine other Vikings scored in a 22-4 Long Beach City College win at Rio Hondo College in both teams' South Coast Conference opener on Wednesday. The win improved LBCC to 4-1 overall.

The Vikings opened up a 7-1 lead after the first quarter and were up 11-1 at halftime. Freshman Giorgio La Rosa (Catania, Italy) posted three goals, three steals, and two assists while freshman Jack Larson (Esperanza HS) also scored three times.

Sophomores Frankie Cervantes (Granite Bay HS), Jack Sherratt (Servite HS), Max Taylor (Las Vegas, NV) as well as freshmen Aaron Mowl (St. John Bosco HS), and Mark Denison (Millikan HS) all scored twice.

Sophomore Noah Borin (Vista Murrieta HS) posted three saves in goal while freshman Nick Wood (Newport Harbor HS) closed out the second half with five saves.

The Long Beach men return to action on October 7 when the Vikings travel to Mt. San Antonio College for a 4:15 p.m. conference match.
