Men’s Water Polo Opens 2017 Season with a Win

The Long Beach City College men's water polo team overpowered Sierra College in their season opener at the Viking Pool Deck on Wednesday evening. The Vikings defeated the Wolverines 25-11 with 11 players scoring at least one goal each.

Freshman center Karlo Krmek led the team with four goals. Sophomore utility Chaz Harker, freshman attacker Benjamin Neppel, sophomore attacker Myles Martinez, and sophomore attacker Carl Matthews all recorded three goals each for the Vikings.

The Wolverines came out strong in the first quarter by keeping up with LBCC and only trailing by one goal. The Vikings just kept building their offensive momentum until Sierra College ran out of steam.

Carl Matthews started the game in the cage and had three saves. Sophomore Andrew Ingram took over in the second half and tallied five saves against the Wolverines.

Men's water polo will play again at home on Wednesday, Sept. 20 in their first conference game against El Camino College at 4:30 p.m.
