Men's Water Polo Named 2018 SCC Champions

The Long Beach men's water polo team was named the 2018 South Coast Conference Champions after their 12-7 tournament win against No. 2 Cerritos College on Saturday Nov. 3. This is the Vikings' second consecutive conference championship.

The Vikings opened the South Coast Conference Tournament with a 20-6 win against No. 4 Chaffey College. Sophomore Felipe Carsalade led the team with five goals, two steals, two turn-overs and had one assists against the Panthers. Sophomore attacker Karlo Krmek and freshman center Ivan Mercep each had four goals for the Vikings.

The Vikings then moved to the Championship game of the tournament and defeated No. 2 Cerritos College 12-7. Krmek totaled four goals against the Falcons. Krmek has totaled 48 goals so far this season with 21 of them in conference action.

Freshman goalkeeper Seth Seaboch was a wall in the cage for the Vikings as he totaled 17 saves for both games. Seaboch has totaled 158 saves as the Vikings' starting goalkeeper.

The men's water polo team will play again on Friday, Nov. 9 against Riverside College in the SoCal Championships at 5:45 p.m. at Cerritos College.
