Vikings go 2-0 at Mt. SAC tournament with wins over Fullerton, Orange Coast

The Long Beach City College men's water polo team picked up a pair of wins on Saturday at the one-day Mt. San Antonio College tournament to improve to 6-1 overall on the season. LBCC opened its day in Walnut with a 23-3 rout over Fullerton College and closed it out with an 11-8 victory against Orange Coast College.

The Fullerton game was never in doubt as the Vikings scored seven goals in the first quarter and led 18-0 at halftime.

10 different Vikings scored against Fullerton, including a game-high five goals from Nikola Jancic. Austin Peterson drove home four goals and Nicolas Fedotov had three.

Long Beach goalie Isaac Zabukovec had seven saves in the win.

Orange Coast proved to be a bigger challenge for the Vikings. The game was tied 5-5 at halftime but Long Beach held the Pirates scoreless in the third and outscored OCC 6-3 over the final two quarters to pull out the win.

Jancic and Fedotov each scored four goals to lead the Vikings' offense while Zabukovec posted six saves.

Long Beach returns to action on Wednesday (Sep. 22) when the Vikings host El Camino College in a 2:45 p.m. South Coast Conference game. The contest will be played at the Los Alamitos Joint Forces Base.
