Men’s Cross Country: Delgado advances to state finals, Vikings 20th at SoCals

Sophomore Michael Delgado (pictured, right) finished in 75th place to lead the Long Beach City College men's cross country team at the 2012 Southern California Regional Championships on Saturday at Fairview Park in Costa Mesa.

Delgado cleared the four-mile course with a time of 21:53.41 to earn an individual at-large spot for the upcoming California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Cross Country State Championships on November 17 at Woodward Park in Fresno.

Delgado will be making his second trip to the state championships. He will look to improve on his time of 21:40.40 and 87th place finish from last year.

Collectively, the Vikings totaled 585 points to finish in 20th place out of 28 teams at the regional meet.

San Bernardino Valley College won the men's team title with 95 points and LA Trade Tech College's Omar Cortes was the top male runner with a time of 19:48.44.
