Men's Cross Country: Long Beach season ends at SCC Championships

Freshman Elias Galvan (San Pedro HS, pictured) ran 23:49 to finish in 61st place and lead the Long Beach City College men's cross country team to a seventh-place showing at the South Coast Conference Championships hosted by LBCC at Heartwell Park in Long Beach.

As a squad, Long Beach totaled 216 points. Galvan was followed by freshman Ronnie Fierro (Cabrillo HS) in 67th place at 24:19 on the four-mile course and sophomore Andrew Harris (Cabrillo HS) in 68th with a time of 24:22.

Mt. San Antonio College won the team title with 43 points while Elvis Salinas of Cerritos College was the individual winner with a time of 20:21.

The SCC Championships closed the 2013 season for first-year head coach Julio Jimenez and the Vikings as the squad did not qualify for next week's Southern California Regional Championships.
