Men’s Cross Country: Vikings finish fourth at SCC Championships, advance to SoCal Regionals

With a team score of 111 points, the Long Beach City College men's cross country team finished in fourth place at the South Coast Conference Championships in Palos Verdes Estates on Friday. With their showing, the Vikings also qualified for next week's Southern California Regional Championships.

Freshman Jordan Horton (Mayfair HS) led LBCC with his 17th-place finish at the SCC finals. He cleared the four-mile course at the Lunada Bay Little League Fields with a time of 24.19.3. Making his season debut, freshman Jared Jones (Loyola HS) finished in 23rd place at 24:30.2. Finishing just outside the top-25 was sophomore Gerardo Salazar (Lakewood HS) in 27th at 24:47.2.

Mt. San Antonio College won the team title with a score of 15 points while Mt. SAC's Daniel Cota-Harrigan was the individual winner with a time of 22:29.9.

Long Beach advances to the Southern California Regionals for the second straight season. The meet is scheduled for Friday (Nov. 6) at Mission Bay Park in San Diego. The men's four-mile race is set to start at 12 p.m.
