The Long Beach City College softball team picked up a 4-1 South Coast Conference win over visiting Los Angeles Harbor College on Thursday at LBCC.
The win improved Long Beach to 8-7 overall and 3-1 in conference play while Harbor dropped to 5-6 overall and 1-3 in the SCC.
Long Beach rallied for all four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. With the bases loaded, freshman Melyssa Rivas (Santa Fe HS) forced in a run after she was hit by a pitch. Freshman Liz Melendrez (Banning HS, pictured) followed with the big blow as she delivered with a three-run triple to cap the LBCC rally.
Freshman Frances Campoy (Santa Fe HS) picked up the win to improve to 6-3 overall this season.
The Vikings return to action on Friday (Feb 24) when they travel to Santa Barbara City College for a 2:30 pm non-conference game.
